This award recognizes that we have made progress towards this goal.” According to Bob Gibson of Verhalen, Inc., a vendor that Knutson Bros. The winning project utilized the foundation of an existing sunroom as a starting point to add an additional conventional room using casement windows and skylights. In addition to the sunroom work, three round bubble windows were replaced with custom round, flat units and two patio doors. Existing window units were adjusted and reused, saving the owner thousands in replacement costs. Vinyl siding was installed with a R-5 insulating factor. The furnance and air conditioner were replaced with energy-efficient units and balanced the system. The home is now more consistent in temperature from room to room. Less draft and less expensive to heat.
Cindy Knutson-Lycholat, CGR, CAPS, CGP of Knutson Brothers II, LLC in East Troy was named the WBA Builder of the Year on February 7, 2009 at the Wisconsin Builders Association® (WBA) annual convention, held at Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, .
The project was a get-away home for a young couple with two children. They love entertaining. The space above the three-car garage became a dormitory style sleeping area, including a bathroom, a game-media room with a private deck. Four dormers were added to the second floor exterior for a great view of the lake. Significant upgrades include the staircase code updates and appeal. The front porch was converted to a "year round" room, offering a great view of the lake. The kitchen was enlarged, using spaces previously used by the laundry room and a bedroom.
